About MDS Bris

Welcome! I'm Dr. Michael D. Schechter, here to offer Brit Milah/Bris ceremony services in the New York City metropolitan area, including Westchester, Fairfield, Nassau and Suffolk counties.  With over 30 years of experience as a Board Certified Ob/Gyn in Greenwich, CT, I bring a wealth of expertise to each ceremony. Recently retired from my practice, I have also obtained religious certification from NOAM, the National Organization of American Mohalim. I am dedicated to exceptional service and follow-up care, ensuring this meaningful life event is special for you and your family.

Personalized and Transparent Ceremony

But it's more than just medical care; it's about creating a warm and loving atmosphere for your family and friends to cherish. Before the ceremony, we'll discuss your wishes to ensure a personalized and meaningful experience. I’ll explain the procedures and prayers involved, aiming to provide transparency and understanding every step of the way. My goal is to create a ceremony where expertise meets warmth, and tradition meets care. I am honored to have the opportunity to welcome your family with open arms.

Experience Matters

With a Bachelor’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University and an MD from New York University School of Medicine, I was fortunate to build a solid educational foundation. I went on to complete a rigorous Ob/Gyn residency at Mount Sinai West (formerly St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospitals). Since 1992, I have practiced in the same Ob/Gyn practice in Greenwich, CT, licensed in both New York and Connecticut. I am certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I feel grateful to have been recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and featured in various magazines, including New York, Connecticut, Greenwich, Stamford, Darien-New Canaan, and Westport Magazines.

Professional Expertise and Care

Having performed thousands of circumcisions in a hospital setting, I strive to bring professional expertise to your bris while prioritizing what I would want as a parent. Your child will receive hospital-grade care with materials and procedures identical to those used in medical settings. I use the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommended anesthetic to ensure your son’s comfort. My commitment extends beyond exceptional care for your son to being available to answer any questions you may have, even after the bris.

Bringing Families Together Through Tradition

As a physician and mohel, I have a special passion for creating warm, inclusive Bris ceremonies for interfaith families. My goal is to create a meaningful experience where everyone feels welcome, understands the traditions, and has an opportunity to participate. A Bris is more than a ceremony—it is an important milestone for your family and an opportunity to bring parents, grandparents, and loved ones closer together. By honoring Jewish tradition while making space for everyone, I strive to create a celebration filled with connection, understanding, and joy.
